Los Angeles Restaurants - Yum!

Los Angeles restaurants are one of the first things that made us fall in love with this city. Did I mention that we love food? No, like really love food. As in "foodies" who will try absolutely anything and are willing to drive all over the city to visit a yummy place that someone suggests.

In fact, the reason we can't ever move away is because of all the Los Angeles restaurants we're addicted to. It is their fault. I'm not talkin' expensive, gourmet high end establishments either--although we love these too and LA has plenty--no, I'm talking about real food on the cheap. Hole in the wall, family owned places that you'd never choose based on looks alone. Places that are one of a kind, like none other in the world. These places, my friends, are where the great and memorable food in LA lies and only the seasoned locals know this secret. You think many tourists head to Mario's Peruvian when they are on vacation here? Nope, these types of places are busy by word of mouth only. So open your mind and get ready to fall in love with the Los Angeles restaurant scene...

Classic & Famous Los Angeles Restaurants
These are the real deal, a taste of "old LA" and will really give you a feel for the city's history. These joints all opened their doors before 1950 and they still running and just as good as ever.

We picked not just the "old" but the classic, the ones that still have that special something that made them thrive for this long. We'll also tell you what they are famous for, aka what you simply must order when you go! More...

Our Favorite Cheap Restaurants in LA
Cheap doesn't mean bad! These are some inexpensive restaurants strewn around LA which are downright delicious, but won't break the bank. Most of them amount to nothing more than a hole-in-the-wall, but the food is great.

These are some of our favorite restaurants to hit time and time again, whenever we get the craving. From a great taco stand to sublime Peruvian food, here are several of our faves. More...

Mexican Restaurants
Given its proximity to Mexico, its size and the large Latino population, LA is a Mexican food paradise. Maybe only Mexico or San Diego can compete in the number of great Mexican restaurants.

Some of the biggest and most famous are not necessarily the best, tending to be a bit watered-down and American-ized. We like more traditional, authentic Mexican food, and we'll try to direct you to it! More...

Best Sushi In Los Angeles
OK, LA is near the ocean and it is a big, metropolitan city, so you'd expect it to have a lot of good sushi restaurants, right?

We'll you'd be right, there is a ton of great Japanese cuisine in the LA area and some of our favorite Los Angeles restaurants are sushi spots. We can't taste them all, but here are some of our favorites; and trust me, we love sushi! More...

brandywine restaurant
Brandywine Restaurant
This quaint and romantic little spot in Woodland Hills is one of our favorite Los Angeles Restaurants for a date with great food.

Owned by a Greek Maitre d' and server and his chef wife, this is classic French food in a family run environment. Its tiny, fun and the food is delicious. You'll be charmed by his wonderful service and satisfied by the traditional, hearty French fare. More...

saddle peak lodge
Saddle Peak Lodge
Once a remote hunting lodge in the 1800's, this gourmet restaurant is definitely a great stop for those looking to get out of the city and into a beautiful, rustic setting.

The specialty of the house is exotic game meats but there is something for everyone. The decor is fun and beautiful, the food great and the service even better. More...

the baker bakery and cafe
The Baker Bakery & Cafe
A small family run business in a strip mall in Woodland Hills. We happened upon this place by accident. This is a real bakery, making their own fresh bread and pastries daily.

But what we really love the Baker for is their yummy breakfasts, especially their spicy signature dish, Shakshouka! Classy breakfast food that is definitely worth a stop if you are in the west Valley. More...

red lion tavern
Red Lion Tavern
Transport yourself to a dark German beer hall or lounge out in the beer garden, this funky and cool little place in Silver Lake is a fun night out both for the great German beers and the grubby German food.

Extra cool because there are 3 or 4 distinct dining/drinking "environments" within this one bar, each time you come back you can have a different experience! More...

santa monica seafood
Santa Monica Seafood
This is our favorite place to buy fresh seafood in the LA area. They have a great selection, are very knowledgable and helpful and we've found by experience that the quality and freshness of the fish is superior to most other places, particularly general markets.

Santa Monica Seafood recently moved from a much smaller spot around the corner and therefore has an even bigger selection and even a new café and raw bar with freshly shucked oysters! More...
