Manhattan Beach CA

Manhattan Beach CA is nestled inside the City of Manhattan Beach, and great for surfing, swimming and volleyball. There are also bike paths and fishing on the end of the Manhattan Pier as well as the free Manhattan Beach Aquarium (aka Roundhouse Marine Studies Lab).

The area is just three miles south of the Los Angeles airport, which makes it a great tourist destination.

Honestly, there really isn't much to say about the beach itself, it is a whole lot like many other LA area beaches and by that I mean wonderful. Nice, slow sloping sand which is great for kids and great waves for surfing and boogie boarding. It isn't a rocky beach and sand crabs are just a dig away which is also great fun for kids.

Our favorite part of Manhattan (besides having found the largest sand crabs here in summer) is the little free aquarium at the end of the pier and the shops in the neighborhood.

There are plenty of parking lots around the neighborhood for a short walk to the beach.

Hey, all the photos on this page were taken in January! Yes, January. This is why Los Angeles rocks. You can go swimming in January. Not always, but sometimes.
