The Pomona Fairplex
This place is simply huge and can be a bit daunting. So whether you visit for the LA fair or for any other show or festival, don't try to take it all in in just one visit. And if you need to get from one side to the other, don't forget the ski lift-like gondola that carries guests from one side to the other!
With just about every kind of fair and festival, from the county fair, to the Irish Music and Arts festival to the Fall Yearling (equine) sale, the entertainment at the Pomona Fairplex is non-stop. Check out their website for current calendars of events. We've found that when we are left with a free day and want to find something fun to do, we just have to visit their site and look at the calendar and there is usually something interesting going on. A couple of highlights for families with young kids like us... Don't miss the huge train set, with dozens of lines and a whole country worth of model buildings, trees and bridges. You can get tours and walk amongst the trains! Perfect for those youngin's who love trains.
There is also a big red barn which often has petting zoos and animal demonstrations. I think we enjoy the petting zoo as much as our son... but don't tell anyone!
